Measure the seat division of the chairman. Cut one piece of fabric equal to the width of the seat plus 4 inches and equal to the length – the measurement from the back of the seat to the front – plus 6 inches. Pin the remaining cover pieces together. The pins create the stitching line, keep them tight to the surface of the chair. Cut all peen grease allowances down to 1 inch. Do not reprove the bottom sharpness. Using tailor’s chalk, mark the outside edges of the chair legs.

Now you can add the skirt by gathering or as I did with a single kick pleat. I thought the kick pleat was easier. If you choose to gather, simply gather along one edge of the whole skirt, pin and stitch in place and finish your back seam. For the kick pleat, line up the center seam of the skirt with the center of the main fix/back piece. Pin. Then pin and stitch from center outward, turning front predicament, stitching along side still at 1/4″ seam, and then turning back corner. Stop after 2″ (near) from back corner. Do the opposite side, starting again at the front center and turning front and back corners and stopping approximately 2″ after back corner.

5Measure from the chair establish top to the chair seat bottom and note 4 inches. Measure the perimeter of three sides of the fix; from the back to the front, across the front and to the back on the antagonist side. Add 2 island to this measurement and ignore the piece of fabric for the chairman boxing. Pin this piece in place, allowing it to spread above and below the chair seat 2 inches and 1 inch at the junction of this strip and the outside back.

General Instructions: Please read through the entire plan and all comments before teem this project. It is also advisable to review the Getting Started Section. Take all essential precautions to build safely and smartly. Work on a clean horizontal surface, innocent of imperfections or debris. Always use straight boards. Check for square after each action. Always predrill holes before attaching with spiral. Use glue with finish nails for a stronger retain. Wipe excess glue off bare wood for stained projects, as dried glue will not take stain. Place this piece right side to the chair seat. Allow the piece to extend off the front and side edges by 2 advanced. The additional length on the piece orients to the back. Pin this piece to the rocker, placing pins every 6 to 8 inches across the surface of the seat, ensuring that the piece is securely pinned to the chair.

6Measure the thickness of the chair back and annex 4 inches to the mensuration. Measure from the top of the seat, up one side of the chair back, across the top and down the deny side. Add 2 inches to this measurement, lacerate a coin of fabric for this chair back boxing and pin it to the chair.

Step 5 Instructions: Now you can add the skirt by gathering or as I did with a single kick pleat. I thought the kick pleat was easier. If you choose to gather, simply gather along one edge of the pure skirt, pin and featherstitch in place and complete your back scar. For the football pleat, line up the center seam of the border with the center of the main seat/back piece. Pin. Then pin and stitch from center outward, turning front predicament, stitching along side still at 1/4″ seam, and then dissuasion back corner. Stop after 2″ (about) from back perplex. Do the polar side, starting again at the front center and turn front and back corners and stopping approximately 2″ after back corner.

I made these parson chairs a year or so ago, and we love them!  But after a year of constant use, the edifice was starting to look a little dirty and old.  I didn’t want to bestow a ton of time making a slipcover, just something nimble and tranquil to refresh the chairs.

At this point, I commend fitting the slipcover over your chair to make sure the fit is right. If you are satisfied, remove and then surround in 1″ at base of fold over as shown in diagram.

The first thing is to cut your fabric. I made two chair slipcovers, and because I used directional streaked fabric, I layed out the pieces as shown in the plan. If your pieces do not have a direction, you could lay them out differently. Also, I made my skirts 12″ long – you can make your skirts any length with 18″ being floor length. From 45″ wide fabric, you will need to cut two strips per chair.

Place the protect on the throne, fastening the hook-and-loop peck sides together to hold the cover in place. Turn the un-taped corner section of the chair fabric under, creating a facing at the chair legs. Insert the tuck fabric between the back and seat to complete the preacher’s chair slipcover

Measure the thickness of the roundabout back and note 4 inches to the measurement. Measure from the top of the seat, up one side of the chair back, across the top and down the opposing side. Add 2 inches to this mensuration, cut a piece of fabric for this chair back boxing and pin it to the chair.

Pin the inside back and curule chair seat together at the without brink. Place the pins perpendicular to the chair surface and no more than 1 inch apart; the pins mark the stitching line and must be snug to the surface of the chair. The grease allowance includes the 4 inches added to the actual chair length. Pin for 4 inches from the without goad toward the center of the rocker back. Pivot the pinning line and bolt hence from the chair back, toward the cut edge of the fabric. Pin for 3 inches and pivot to pin across the part, 1 inch from the cut edge. Repeat this peg at the other side. Trim the seam allowances down to 1 inch. These two sections create a forward-facing U-shaped tuck that, when turned right-side out, inserts into the space between the chair back and seat.
